Hollywood Studios Touring Tips For Rainy Days

One comment

The weather in Central Florida is one of the most unpredictable things about your Walt Disney World vacation.

You could be walking right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. and the heavens will open up your and start down pouring.

At this time a lot the guests tend to leave the park and head back to their resort. But I say stay in the park, there is plenty to do while raining. Also, the rain will typically not last long anyway.

In this series we’re going to take a look at things to do while it is raining at Walt Disney World.

Previously we toured Magic Kingdom and Epcot, this week we’ll take a look at Hollywood Studios.

Now it’s no secret that most of Hollywood Studios is currently under construction or refurbishment. But there are still great places to head if the rain does start to come down.

Hollywood Boulevard

There are plenty of great shops along Hollywood Boulevard that interconnect, much like Main Street, U.S.A. You can walk up and down either side.

On the left side facing the Chinese Theater Here you will find apparel and jewlery.

On the ride side is where you will find many of you souvenirs, housewares and Magicbands.

Sunset Boulevard

Your options on Sunset Boulevard are limited, chances are Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will have significant waits. You can try the single rider line at Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster but your party will be split up.

Some of the quick service locations down the street offer covered seating. There are also many shops along this thoroughfare as well. Although as not well connected to one another as Hollywood Boulevard they do offer souvenirs and apparel to look through.

Echo Lake

In the Echo Lake area the Tune-In Lounge is a great place to grab a drink. This lounge is part of the 50’s Prime Time Café. We take a look at this location in our previous Top 5 Unique Dining Experiences article.

The For the First Time in Forever Frozen show is a 30 minute show that is part sing-a-long part stage show. It is rather enjoyable for more than just little kids.

Usually you can obtain a FastPass+ for this show if you have already gone through your initial three.

Grand Avenue

One of the best values on property is Baseline Tap House in Grand Avenue. This is a small lounge that offers craft beers, wine and some small plates. Although not much seating is available it is a nice place to head when the rains come down.

The charcuterie plate here is easily shareable for 2-3 people.

However, the best place to head in this area of the park would be MuppetVision 3D. This is a classic, quintessential attraction not just for this park but of the whole resort.

This is a 25 minute experience between the pre-show and show itself. This show building is also filled with a ton of Imagineering Easter eggs.

Be sure to check the mat on the right to see if the key is there!

Animation Courtyard/Toy Story Land

Walt Disney Presents

I have lumped these two areas together because if you are in Toy Story Land you will definitely want to head out of the area. There is not much covering in this area at all.

A great place to head is Walt Disney Presents. I won’t even recommend the Meet and Greet or preview at the end, unless it is the One Man’s Dream film.

This attraction is a miniature walk-through exhibit of the life and history of Walt Disney. It is a great place to walk through, almost like a small Walt Disney Family Museum.

You will see exhibits of Walt’s early life, his start in animation through the beginnings of Disneyland and models of the latest attractions coming to Walt Disney World.

Star Wars Launch Bay in Animation Courtyard is also a great place to head for Star Wars fans. It is filled with displays and Meet and Greets.
